Heidi Butler Hales

are adopting a child from China

We are Que and Heidi Hales and we are the parents of nine children, four of whom still live at home. We are currently in the process of adopting a beautiful 10 year old boy with cerebral palsy from China. We discussed adoption even before we married, and when the time was right, we added children to our family from China, Haiti, and foster care in the U.S.

After five adoptions, we felt like we were done growing our family, even titling our blog, "Nine is Enough". There was a persistent feeling, however, over the past few years that someone was missing and when Heidi saw the photo of our 10th child she knew instantly with a pounding heart that he was our son. We just needed to find a way to get him home.

Every child deserves the love of a family, and while we clearly can't adopt every orphan, we know we can make a difference in the life of this precious boy. As international adoption costs have increased substantially since our first adoption, we have had more than a few moments of doubt wondering how we could pull this off, but know that when God leads you down a path he provides a way to accomplish what may seem impossible. Our total fees will run around $30,000, but we are working hard by taking on extra jobs, having a few large garage sales, working on putting together a project that helps a widow at the same time it helps our adoption, and more. We firmly believe that God helps those who are willing to put in the work. Oh, and that blog titled "Nine is Enough"? It has undergone a name change to "Raising Many Miracles." You can follow along on our journey under the same title on Facebook. We know when we put God's plans for our lives first, miracles will truly follow.
