Hello!
I have exciting news! After being a foster parent for two years, I am ready to build my family in a more permanent way. I am hoping to adopt a baby! My experience as a foster parent has helped me see that I am ready to commit to caring for a child throughout their life, and I am eager to be a "forever mama" - to know that as much as life allows, I can count on spending the next holiday or birthday with my child. To see growth and progress and setbacks and joy blossom from one day to the next. To continue guiding my child and learning from them for years to come.
I am very excited and am doing everything I can to be prepared to welcome a new family member into my home. As part of the adoption process, I have started a crowdfunding campaign. Adoption related costs can easily total up to $50,000 or more. These costs include legal fees, support for the biological family, counseling, and home study expenses. This is why I am fundraising - to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
I hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community I hope to build around my child as they grow up.
Thank you for supporting me as I embark on this journey!
xoxo

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the long delay in updates....it's been a year of mostly non-updates. But hey, we've made it through 2+ years of the pandemic so that's something :)
The second trial to terminate biological parental rights finished in April. We are waiting on a ruling before we will know what next steps are for Rosie. In the meantime, she is growing like a weed and has learned to do cartwheels and swing across the monkey bars on her own.
We have news that her birth mom is expecting...so my adoption journey may be taking a new turn - or not. No decisions have been made about this sibling. Rosie does not know about it yet, as we are waiting to see where things go. I continue to be on the waitlist for private adoption, although I have learned that it can be a three-year wait.
I am immensely grateful for all of your support, and know that it will be a big help, either with defraying the costs of private adoption, or with helping me prepare for a new little sibling. I am learning to sit with the "not knowing," and trying to take each day as it arrives.
Thank you all again!
Best,
Susannah
