We are adopting a child!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. We are currently looking to adopt a little girl with Down syndrome from China. We are excited for this new adventure ahead and where God is going to lead us, but we want to give you a little background on our decision and why we feel God is calling us to adopt a child from China with Down syndrome.
After, Macey was around 2 years old, Darin and I began to discuss different avenues of bringing in another child to our family. We knew in our hearts that we were done having children biologically, but adoption had been brought up in the past. We began to talk about foster care, Safe Families, domestic adoption, international adoption and special needs adoption. It was a topic that continued to surface at different times and we always agreed that we would love to do it, but how? How would we do it? How can we afford it? Can we handle it?
However, recently, it was placed on both of our hearts to finally look into pursuing it. We felt that God was tugging at our hearts to look into adopting a child with Down syndrome. We didn’t know if that meant domestic or international adoption so we contacted Bethany Christian Services and it happened to be that their monthly information meeting was five days away. We signed up in hopes to find out which path would be best suited for us and our girls and in hopes that God would direct us in which path He had planned for us. Upon leaving the meeting we felt that God was calling us to adopt from China and that the biggest demand within China is the need for special needs adoption. We felt God was really directing us to continue to pursue this path even in the presence of fear and the unknown and to trust in Him.
We are in the beginning stages of the adoption process, but we are eager to find out who the little girl is that God has planned for our family.
Raising children takes a village and we are contacting you, our village, to help us through this process. We are asking for your continued prayers for God’s guidance through it all and for us to have a listening ear for God’s voice and direction.
