I have BIG news!
I hosted Marta this past July and we both feel that God brought us together! The paperwork has been formally filed to make her legally my daughter as soon as possible. It is a long process and includes three trips to Latvia to formalize the adoption.
I am beyond excited and am doing everything I can to be prepared to welcome Marta into my home. As part of my adoption process, I have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs for Latvia can easily total up to $30,000. This is why I have set a goal of $10,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. When a family grows by giving birth to a baby, there are high costs associated with the birth, but those are most likely covered by health insurance. There is no similiar way to buffer the costs of adoption.
