We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
……or two.
First of all, we are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $15,000 to help ease the financial burden that is rather daunting.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our children as they grow up.
We have been on our adoption journey for three years. After several miscarriages, Isabel's body gave very clear signs that another pregnancy isn't an option.
After our last miscarriage, our almost 7-year old son came to us and said that we shouldn't worry because his little sister told him that when the time comes, “she will find a body, grow in another mommy’s belly and come live with us”.
His wise words started the entire adoption process rather quickly and here we are….
We are matched with an amazing expectant momma who truly loves her baby and wants only the best for her. She is due in March 2021. After long conversations with her, it turns out this sweet little baby has an older sister who is currently placed in foster care. It didn't take us long to make the decision that we want to keep both sisters together and pursue adoption for both. We are super excited for the opportunity to see both growing up and them becoming a part of our family. They will be loved dearly.
That also means that we'll have quite the financial expenses (because of two different adoption processes) we have to consider that will cover our agency and lawyer fees (and some costs related to the DCS process), as well as preparing our home for two wonderful additions (and potentially a bigger car thanks to the size of car seats ;)).
It would be amazing to go through all of this without having to worry about finances and instead being able to embrace the journey and being fully available and present to all 3 of the children (including our biological son) at all times.
