Even while dating and in the early days of our marriage, we were having conversations about adoption. In recent years, our desire to adopt has only grown. It's never been a question of "if," but always "when?"We are so compelled by the love God has shown us–adopting us as his sons and daughters, making us heirs and co-heirs with Christ (Gal. 4). We identify with adoption in a very personal way, and feel like now is the time to pursue the call to adopt a child. We are seeking a domestic infant adoption and, led by the Gospel, are leaving things like the child’s gender and ethnicity to God’s providence. Without a word to her about adoption, Nora has been asking since early 2018 when “her baby” would be arriving! And Johnny has been practicing his big bro skills by calling anyone his size or smaller “Baby” and giving them a big hug. We are all ready to see our family grow.
Would you pray for us? Pray for wisdom and peace as we are currently deciding whether to choose an adoption consultant or agency. Please pray that our roof damage from Hurricane Michael (10/2018) would be repaired properly and efficiently as this must happen before our Home Study is approved. Lastly, and, maybe, most importantly, would you pray for the expectant birth mother and family of this child? We are new to this, but are quickly learning of the complexities and heartache involved in adoption. We want to consistently pray for our child’s family of origin.
The cost of an ethical, domestic infant adoption can be upwards of $45,000. We are setting a goal of $30,000 here and through Caroline W. Jackson Art. If you feel led to give a financial gift to help us bring our baby home, please know that your gift will be used only for adoption expenses and is tax deductible for you.
