We have BIG news!!! We are adopting a baby!
We have struggled for years with infertility and failed fertility treatments. Therefore, we decided to get home study approved and as part of the adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It might surprise you that adoption can easily cost over $40,000. This is why we have set up the goal to help ease the financial requirements that can seem overwhelming. We are beyond excited and doing everything we can to prepare to welcome this beautiful baby into our family. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the loving community around our child as they grow up.
Your donation is tax deductible and 95% of it comes to us for the specific purpose of adoption.
We have been matched with a birth mom. This is such an exciting time for us as we now know we get to grow our family. We can't post too much about the birth mom or child, but can say we do have a few months to go still until birth mom is due.
It was surreal mailing off our first payment, which was half of our costs, to the attorney. Alos filling out the paperwork to start the process on the legal end. Thank you to all of you who have been praying for us to be matched. We are excited to share more with you in the months to come and as we can.
It has been just about a month since we have updated everyone on the progress. Since our latest update, we have had our profile book shown to at least 4-6 more birth mothers. We were again narrowed down to us and one other family on the last potential adoption. Unfortunately, the birth mother chose the other family and not us. This potential match seemed really promising, so it was a bit disheartening, but we know in our hearts this time will come. In time we will get to make our family bigger with a new addition.
We appreciate all of the support and questions about updates. It confirms you are just as much a part of our adoption process as us.
Well, in the short period of time, we have been presented to six birth mothers so far, but not chosen as of yet. We had a "stork drop", meaning a quick adoption present itself this week. We were narrowed down one of the only families, but did not get chosen. This one was the closest we have gotten yet in our adoption journey. Literally down to the last minutes. So, it was an exciting few days.
The great thing is that we know everything happens for a reason. We trust the time will be right when it is our time. We thank all of you for your support, love, and prayers along the way. We also thank our adoption consultant for all of the help. She has been tremendous and truly trying to match us with a family. We are still at the beginning of this journey, but it is moving fast!
We have been presented to two birth mothers already. It’s so exciting to be getting shown to birth mothers to be consider as adoptive parents. So, our profile book is getting shown, which is awesome!
We were narrowed down to a handful of adoptive parents, but not chosen by the first birth mother. Today, we gave the go ahead to be shown to another birth mother. We’re waiting to hear back on it.
It’s quite nerve racking, but also stressful at times because of all the unknown. However, we can’t express how much appreciation we have to everyone involved, especially everyone who has chosen to help us on this journey. We’re excited and we know our beautiful baby is out there somewhere.
Since we’re picking up the pace and moving forward, please feel free to share our story and journey with others. We appreciate those of you who have donated for adoption costs. With the few birth mothers we have been shown to just in the few weeks, the costs provided to us have been anywhere from 40k to 50k. Thank you all so much!
We officially went live this week with our adoption consultant. It wasn’t even one day and we were already presented to a birth mom. Obviously, we know how fast this potential match was is not the norm, but it was amazing to already be potentially matched with a child.
We were not selected or matched with this birth mom. However, we are off to a great start! Everything happens for a reason.
We do want to express our sincere thank you to those of you who have helped by donating, sharing, or otherwise spreading our good news of adoption. You’re welcome to share our story with anyone.
We will post more updates as we move through this journey with all of you. Thank you so much!
With love,
Brooke & James
