I have BIG news! I have decided to adopt a baby!
I am beyond excited and have been busy doing everything I can to prepare to welcome a beautiful new life into my home. As part of my adoption process, I have decided to start a crowdfunding campaign. I did not make this decision without much prayer. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why I have set that amount as a goal to help ease the financial burden that, in the past, has prevented me from this journey to parenthood. In addition to this crowdfunding campaign, I have applied for all of the grants and loans that I am eligible for.
Those that know me can vouch that I have dedicated my life to working with children, whether it be teaching them, giving them love and confidence, and advocating for their needs. My absolute joys in life have been my Godchildren, nieces, and nephews. I have been a part of their lives since being present at the hospital at each birth. I have fed them, changed them, bathed them, held them, rocked them, taken them to the park, taken them to carnivals, cheered them on at sporting events, attended baptisms, confirmations, and award ceremonies, helped plan birthday parties, and supported them in every way possible.
I have witnessed the hardships and joys of having children through my friends and family. I know that being “Aunt Jamie” is not the same as being a single mother, but I expect it to be hard, and anything this important is hard.
I have always wanted to be a mother. My longing to be a parent has only grown over the years, and with lots of faith and prayer, I believe that it is the right time to pursue adoption. I have a very strong faith, and that faith makes me strong, resilient, and willing to sacrifice in order to adopt. This means absolutely everything to me.
