Hello there friends and family!
We are so excited to be able to bring you along on this journey that God has been preparing us for over the past few years. We are ready to share our excitement of not just why but how we plan to adopt and how you can help.
To start with, we would love to share more about who we are. Jim and Alicia met in 2016 and got married in June of 2019. We have two pups: Marley (the black and white dog) who we call our grumpy grandma and Kaia (the tan dog) who we call our cheesy gremlin. Jim is a big kid at heart who loves to laugh and tell stories. He works at an insurance company and loves having fun with the kids at church while showing them Jesus. Alicia is a compassionate advocate that never met a stranger. She works in HR but loves to worship, play instruments and is always on the look out for someone to help.
We are starting our adoption journey for a couple of reasons. Jim has felt the passion to adopt ever since he graduated Bible college and was a missionary in China. Alicia has always had a heart for adoption ministries but didn't know how God would use that passion. After a few years of infertility and looking into the other options available to us, we realized that God was igniting the shared passion for adoption.
The timeline of our adoption journey: *Home study with pre approval paperwork. *Get approved by Mustard Seed (Adoption Agency). * Waiting period for baby to come available. *Adoption Process (Picking up of child, court proceedings) *Post Placement Home studies.
Who we're working with and why: Mustard Seed is a Christian Adoption service that ministers to both the adopting and biological parents. https://www.mustardseedadoptionconsultants.com/ Sunshine is a local and friendly Home study organization. We're required to work with a local home study organization. https://www.sunshinehomestudy.org/
The asking amount covers: home study, agency fees, adoption fees, and post placement home studies. We plan to create a college fund for the child with any left over money that has been raised.
Other ways you can help are prayers, encouragements or any other suggestions.
We're excited to have you on this journey with us. Thanks and God bless!
Hello Everyone! We're just popping in to give you all a little update on where we are in the adoption process.
Over the last three months, we have been hard at work completing the necessary paperwork needed for the home study. While working on the paperwork, we were informed that the home study is valid for around the same amount of time as our contract with Mustard Seed (our adoption consultants). This does not change our plans. It just means that we are going to fundraise both the home study and consultant fee at the same time.
One last update before we go. An opportunity has presented itself that will allow us to work together with our home church (New Hope Church of Frostproof FL) instead of doing a bake sale. When we have more details, we will make them available to you.
Thanks for your prayers and support!
First and foremost, Alicia and I would to thank each and every one of you that either donated, spread the word or just asked us about how we are doing. It has been a great blessing and we couldn't have imagined how much God has been moving in the past few weeks since we made our announcement. Thank you so much!
Over the past few weeks, Alicia and I have been working hard on getting ready for our home study. This is what is often called the 'not-so-fun-part' of the adoption process. We are about half-way through with the necessary documents needed. We have gotten all of the 'smaller' things taken care of on the list, however we still need to get three different background checks and a couple of financial documents together and we should be finished with the prep for the actual home study.
Bake sale Update: It looks like God may have something else in the works, so we're pausing the bake sale for the time being. When we have more details one way or the other, we will be sure to let everyone know.
Once again, thank you for your support!
