HI! My name is Kaley, I’m a single mom to a 15 year old son that is biologically mine while trying to adopt a one year old baby boy.

My story is a little different from a few that I’ve read because I’ve had said baby since birth. I was in the room when he was born, I started as a safety plan through DHR due to birth mom’s severe drug use. The baby spent over a month battling horrific withdrawals, it was like nothing I had ever seen. The nurses had also stated that it was the worse they witnessed within the last decade. He came home with me after the hospital and had to go to Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery at 2 months old. He has since done well, growing, learning, and loving the life he is living and we are creating.

DHR also pushed me to file for custody, which I did and was granted in August and then again in November. Later it was suggested that I file for adoption due to birth mom not having any contact with me or trying to see him. With me not being a foster parent I don’t receive assistance and I want nothing more to make the only home that he’s ever known his FOREVER home. I have had my Home Study and have passed, I just don’t have the money to pay for her to file it or to finish paying for my adoption. With school starting back AND having my adoption lingering is very stressful. All I lack is money for my payments, to the lawyer and to DHR, and everything will be final.
