Kevin and Zachary T.

are adopting a child from United States of America

Hi friends and family,

We’re Zachary and Kevin — husbands living in McLean, Virginia — and we’re thrilled to share that we’re beginning our journey to become parents through adoption.

Kevin is a dedicated middle school teacher working with English Language Learners in Arlington, Virginia, and Zachary serves as a Director of Safety and Security for a nonprofit organization out of DC. After over seven years of building a loving and stable life together, we’re ready to open our hearts and home to a child.

Adoption is a beautiful, life-changing path — but it comes with significant financial challenges. Domestic adoptions in the U.S. can cost between $45,000 and $90,000, which covers legal fees, home studies, counseling, and agency support.

We’re using AdoptTogether, a tax deductible crowd source platform that allows our friends, family, and extended network to make tax-deductible donations to help support our adoption.

We’re so grateful for your encouragement, love, and generosity. Every gift — big or small — brings us one step closer to growing our family.

With love and gratitude, Zachary & Kevin

Off the Waitlist now to Profile Prep

    April 29, 2026

    Hi Everyone

Short but sweet update. We got notice this week that we are officially off the waitlist to go into the pool. So what does it mean? It means we have to start working with our agency to do a bunch more paperwork and prepare our profile for potential birth mothers/families to see. They use the profiles to help them understand more about us and whether or not they’d think we’d be a good fit.

So as soon as we’re in the pool and out of profile prep they’ll be another update, but for now, we are one step closer!

    Happy Holidays and Waitlist Vibes

    December 27, 2025

    Hi Friends and Family,

We hope you’re having a great holiday break from the hustle and bustle of work and personal life.

Our home study has been filed, accepted and we’re on to the next step, waiting. We got notified that we are the eighth family in line to go into the pool. This basically means it’s the waitlist before entering the selection pool to wait on a family to pick us.

So we wait, and thank everyone who’s helped us along this way so far and will be helping us after we’re picked and our future child is placed with us as their new parents. Here’s to a great 2026 and a wish that the wait before the wait is just a temporary and swift interim step.

    Complete: Homestudy

    November 27, 2025

Happy Thanksgiving! We received our final homestudy documents to be submitted to the state yesterday and we can’t be more excited to be done with this major hurdle on our journey to adopt.

We wait for our agency to let us know if we get placed in the pool or on a waitlist for a spot to open in the pool. If we go directly into the pool we will start the process of completing our profile that ultimately expectant mothers will see and use to pick us. Exciting!

We’ll keep everyone updated as we get to the long wait for us to be picked and bring home our child to meet everyone!

    Homestudy on the Home Stretch

    August 28, 2025

    Hi Everyone

We are rounding the corner to the end of the homestudy. We have a few tasks left of the 65 initial we had to complete but we are going to be no later than November 11th, 2025. This means that our profile creation process will start around Thanksgiving and we should be live in the portal for birth families to view and potentially select from.

If you’ve ever been through the process you know this is supposed to be the easy part, and the waiting is the hard. We are anxious to get into the pool and start the hard part of waiting but can’t wait to get placed and finalize so we can introduce the newest member of our family to everyone.

For those of you that donated and didn’t remain anonymous you should look out for a personalized thank you from us; it’s the least we can do.

Thanks for all the love and support! We sure do need it now and into the future. Stay tuned for more opportunities to support our journey and learn about adoption!

    Home Study Started

    August 10, 2025

    Hi Everyone

Thanks to those already supporting us financially, physically, emotionally, etc through this process. Our application was approved with Paths for Families for Domestic Infant Adoption. We’ve been assigned a home study social worker and now begins the hard work of pulling together every piece of documentation about our lives, health, home, etc. We have six months to complete the process for a home study so we are aiming to have everything done documentation and training wise by December. That gives us the first of the year to get an approved home study and then start the next stage; profile creation, references, and entering the adoption family pool!

It takes a village and we appreciate everyone’s part and can’t wait to become a family of three and have the little one meet everyone.
