We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
Hi we are James and Mindy Kim,
We hope you will join us in learning about adoption and share our story to help others learn the miracle that is adoption. We started our journey of growing a family over a year ago and unfortunately had 4 losses of our own. We prayed and felt deeply called to start a family but to adopt and celebrate the choice of giving life. Through this journey we have learned about the self-less act a mother goes through in making this decision. We have been married for 10 years, James is a retired military veteran who served for over a decade. Mindy is a BCBA who serves families which children with autism and has devote her career to changing the lives of children and families. We were college sweethearts, love to try new foods and consider ourselves "foodies" and hope to go from parents of rescued dogs, to mother and father of a child. It will be our greatest joy in life to welcome a child into our home and we are grateful to share this story with you.
Some of the most common reasons why a mother or family may put their family for adoption voluntarily are: low or no support, no desire to connect with the father of the baby, open CPS case, little to now support from family, their desire to bless a family with infertility, and many more. There are many common misconceptions with adoption such as all mothers are teen pregnancies', which is not always the case. Adoption provides more services than just preparing a family to bring a baby into their lives.
Medical needs for the mother during and after pregnancy, counseling services, lawyer fees, adoptive fees, background checks, home study, and services within the community to help that mother pre/post pregancy to care for the whole individual and unborn baby. That all factor into the overall cost. Many adoptions cost anywhere from $20,000-60,000. It was important to us that the mother be in the forefront of care in this process and that the needs of the unborn child are met every step of the way. Legacy adoption provides these services to the biological mother. (https://legacyas.com/)
We hope you will share our story, donate if that is in your heart, or learn something about the world of adoption you might not have known before.
With love and faith,
Mindy and James Kim
