Kristy Redford & Brian Koos

are adopting a child from United States of America

Hello and thank you for reading our story! Our road to parenthood has been a decade long dance of grief and faith. During this time there have been countless celebrations of life: the birth of our nieces, the birth of friends’ children, new careers, weddings, athletic accomplishments, a new home. But through it all was an underlining pain of longing, grief and loss, surgeries and tests, needles and procedures, tears and heartbreak that laid quiet in the background, yet present enough that it was always there. Last September Brian and I experienced yet another devastating pregnancy loss and was faced with the reality that we cannot have biological children. For two people that have dreamed of being parents, this was heartbreaking. But our faith never waivered and after taking time to heal, we began exploring other roads to parenthood. We now understand that we were on the wrong path altogether and we were meant to be adoptive parents. Together we filled out applications, attended classes, sought out additional webinars, prepared our home for the home study visit. It was like the light was back on in our hearts and home. Now, several months later, we can sit here and say affirmatively this is how we were meant to build our family. Adoption is a vital role in society to be the village to a birth family seeking solutions. For us, it is our only choice and we are grateful that we finally found our calling.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is a financial mountain that we just haven’t been able to climb ourselves.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. Brian and I have developed two family mottos: ‘love makes a family’ and ‘it takes a village.’ Thank you for being our village and helping us to make our road to parenthood finally a reality.
