We have BIG news!
We are adopting a baby!
In the salvation we have through Christ, we have been adopted as sons by the Father. We are God's children, so we already get to experience true joy because of adoption every single day!
We are Anthony and Amanda Kroeker. Anthony is a special education teacher, and I (Amanda) am a homeschool mom and soapmaker. We have one son Aedyn who is 12 and now in 6th grade.
We have wanted to adopt ever since we got married. Aedyn was already 3 at that time. Anthony adopted him soon after, so adoption already has a very special place in our hearts. Scripture tells us that God is a father to the fatherless, and Anthony showed us a very real earthly example of that when he adopted Aedyn.
Even though we planned to adopt from the beginning, we naturally tried to have another biological child first. We struggled with infertility for our 8 long years of trying. The always negative tests made my heart drop every time, and I began to hate the next time I would have to take one. After years of medication and medical procedures, we decided it was time to stop. My body couldn't take any more. We truly can say that we exhausted every option we could within our convictions.
I remember always feeling like I had a cloud hanging over me. Watching all my friends having babies was difficult. I deeply love my friends' children, but there was a longing for our son to have siblings of his own. For our family to be bigger. To have a baby again, especially since Anthony never got to experience that as a father. I prayed many times for God to take this desire for more children away from me because it hurt too much. But instead we kept being reminded of our call as Christians to care for the orphans. We decided to finally get the ball rolling with adoption.
Now I need to pause for a moment to say this: wanting more children does NOT mean Aedyn isn't loved or isn't enough. He is an enormous blessing from the Lord. He is SO loved. Having been adopted by Anthony himself, he is really excited to be a big brother through adoption and has decided he wants to adopt his own children one day. When he said that, you better believe my heart melted.
As soon as we chose to move forward with adoption, the cloud I felt was lifted. God freed me from the pain I felt when someone else announced their pregnancy. That's not to say it's always easy; I still get emotional about it all sometimes and have to take a step back to remember how we have been blessed already. But there is clarity, and we can press forward with the adoption that we believe God has led us to do.
We scoured through long lists of agencies asking a million questions to narrow it down. We chose Adoption Angels as our adoption agency mainly because of the great importance they place on birth parent counseling. Having been a teen mom myself, I understand the difference that can make. We want to ensure the birth parents of our baby are cared for well.
Even though there is a lot of leg work we have already completed up to this point, there is much more to come. We ask that you keep our family in prayer as we navigate through this process of adoption. If you are able, please donate to our adoption fund to help cover the costs involved. We appreciate any and every bit of help given!
It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. Adoption related expenses include home studies, agency fees, birth mother expenses, travel costs, legal fees, and more. With one of us being a public school teacher and the other a homeschool mom, it is easy to see how difficult it is to save that amount on our own. This is why we have set a fundraising goal to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
Thank you so much for considering donating to our adoption fund. If you choose to donate through this site, your donation is tax deductible.
Love in Christ,
Anthony and Amanda Kroeker
