Peace Kyarisiima

is adopting a child from Uganda

Primrose Mukama Namara was born in Uganda on January 7th 2007, she comes from a loving family that consists of five siblings and hard working parents.

Born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia (TOF), a very rare heart condition caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. The defects cause oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and into the rest of the body. Which causes the heart not to fully develop. The symptoms include blue-tinged skin and shortness of breath. This condition also affected nerve development in her left eye that caused a loss of sight.

At six months old, Primrose made her first trip along with her mother to the US to have her first open-heart surgery, during which a stent was placed in her heart. Primrose spent an additional six months in the US recovering. Primrose recovered and travelled back home. During that time, her mother was advised that she would need to bring Primrose back to replace her stent once she turned seven years old.

At seven years old, Primrose’s parents could not afford to bring her back to the US due to financial hardship. During this time, she was visiting local Ugandan Doctors for her annual checkups. At age 8, Primrose started experiencing fainting spells and shortness of breath and she would occasionally turn blue from lack of oxygen.

School was becoming more of a challenge during those years due to bullying and harassment from classmates about her eye, which caused her low self esteem and lack of confidence, which led to isolation and ultimately depression.

Finally, Primrose got an invitation to the US to get her eye fixed in April 2021. This time around, she made the trip with her Dad, and while she was here, she started feeling bad and was rushed to the ER. The Cardiologist that had performed her first surgery was notified and after he reviewed her medical results, he discovered that her heart stent needed to be replaced immediately.

Primrose had an emergency open-heart surgery in June 2021 and needed to recover in the US and receive postoperative follow-up care. Her Father stayed for four months, but had to return back to Uganda to the rest of the family.

At that point, I made a decision to adopt Primrose, knowing what she had been through as well as how challenging it would be for her parents to take care of her in addition to her five siblings in Uganda. We are looking for funding to cover her adoption expenses. We thank you in advance for your support and donations.
