We're beyond excited to announce that we are pursuing domestic, infant adoption!
This summer, we celebrated 8 years of marriage. We have longed to build our family and haven't been able to have kids yet. Through a ton of prayer and Gods leading, & counsel from others we have felt God putting adoption on our hearts. We talked about adoption long before we were even married as something we would like to do in the future. We did think it would be after biological children first, but God has had other plans.
While it has felt early to share our decision with people because there isn't something tangible yet, is does mean inviting people into our journey and to be praying as each step takes place. We would LOVE prayer first and foremost. We have a lot of questions and are learning things every day about this journey. We are SO excited because we know God has a baby for us. Simultaneously, we are also nervous, relying on Christ's strength, learning from other adoptive families, and mourning other things. We truly believe this is the direction God is using to build our family; please be praying for discernment, for God's will, & for the future birthmother.
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption-related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $40,000 to start, hoping it will be lowered as learn more from our agency.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will truly see yourself aspart of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
Chances are, you're here from our Christmas card. We wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas! & thank you for stopping by our site!
1 John 4:9-11, "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
UPDATE
As far an update-we are currently in the midst of applying to an adoption agency that we're feeling really good about. We were unable to use an agency we'd thought we'd start with, so we found ourselves in a place of learning what we needed to look for in an agency. We would love prayer about discernment and trusting in Gods plans for us.
Thank you again for caring and reading. hopefully another update soon that we've been accepted at this agency!
Earlier this year, Kyler preached his first weekend sermon at our church titled, "What to Do in Desperate Circumstances," during which he shard a bit of our journey in wanting to be parents.
We've been overwhelmingly thankful for how God worked through that situation to share and how our community of friends and family have come alongside us to pray for us, encourage us, and be a support system. I'll link his sermon below if you're interested.
God's plans are better than ours!
