We are adopting a child!
We started the journey of trying to start a family almost 4 years ago. Month after month brought negative tests so we decided to seek treatment to see if there was a reason we weren't having success getting pregnant. That brought many tests, fertility drugs, and unanswered questions. Even after all of that we still weren't successful and had no answers as to why we weren't able to have our own child. We mourned, while still trying with little hope. Then we started talking about adoption. Adoption was always something we hoped to do, and had planned looking into it after we had our own child. But there seemed to be a different plan for us and we realized that this is the way we are meant to become a family.
We have currently finished all of the paperwork for the homestudy and our adoption profiles. We are just waiting for our video profile to be professionally compiled by our agency and then we will start being introduced to birth mothers.
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $60,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $15,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents just like us. And it is definitely overwhelming!
