Hello, everyone! Many of you know this already, but many do not. I have been remiss in my updates! Thank you to all who gave YEARS ago to this adventure.
After 5 years of waiting (3.5 years with an approved home study) and 14 years of marriage, we have a quick timeline to share!
- 2/13/23 - I gave notice at my job, as it just felt like there was something different for me to do. I just wasn't sure what it was.
- 2/14/23 - We got a call from our caseworker, Liz, asking if we were both around for
... Read morea conversation. Aaron was at work, so I barged into the church and knocked on the door where he was in a staff meeting. Liz told us that a birthmother had chosen our profile book and wanted to meet us. Baby Girl had already been born the month prior, and was in a Cradle Care (foster care) home after a time in the NICU. She was born at 32 weeks, but was doing great.
- 2/16/23 - We met her Birthmom at a restaurant in Denver. I think it's fair to say that it was less than 10 minutes into our meal that her Birthmom said, "Well, I feel comfortable with placement happening even today."
What?! We had absolutely no baby things at all, except a carseat that we brought at our caseworker's initiative.
- 2/17/23 - We met our baby girl at her Cradle Care family's house -- precious people who loved her so well during the time she was with them. (We are forever grateful!) Cherie brought her downstairs from a nap, and my first words (amid an ugly cry face) were "She's so tiny!" Baby clocked in at 5 lbs 4 oz, a significant increase from her 3 lb, 9 oz birthweight!
There is so much we could tell you, but Baby Girl has a cold and needs to be tended to. :) For the first six months of a permanent private placement in Colorado, it remains a foster care placement. So, as some of you have seen on Facebook or Instagram.....
Flash forward to today - Cadence Tia Joy is officially, legally a Leggett as of September 15, 2023!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU -- we could not have walked this long road toward parenthood without all of you.
