Charles Linn

is adopting a child

Hi, we’re the Linn’s! We are so glad you decided to visit our page and read about our story.

It all started when our church held a series centered around the question, “What Breaks Your Heart?" For the first time, we started seriously discussing and praying through that question. For us, our answers varied slightly, but at the heart of it we knew that unprotected, unloved, and under-privileged children absolutely break our hearts. So the question became, what do we do?

Along the way, we ran across this quote: “Adopting one child won’t change the world; but for that child, the world will change.”

\ *Lightbulb *

In our lives, we’ve found that the Holy Spirit is rarely subtle and that His plan is always bigger, and far greater than the one we had planned for ourselves. So we decided to take a step forward, and are now working with an agency called All God’s Children; who will assist us with an international adoption from Colombia. We are in the very early stages of filling out paperwork and finding a Social Worker to begin our home-study, and we could not be happier to begin this journey and share it with you all.

As a way to stay connected, we will be utilizing this page to update you on where we are in the process, how we’re feeling, and if there is anything you can be doing to support us.

As we mentioned, we have begun working with an agency to begin the home-study process. For those unfamiliar with this process, the home-study is a way for a Social Worker to determine who we are, what child would be a good fit for our family, and ultimately what training and resources we may need access to before (and after) welcoming a child into our home. This takes about 6 months and includes us filling out stacks of paperwork, gathering recommendation letters and completing a series of interviews.

We are excited, and a little overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork ahead of us. But we are also so grateful to have all the love and encouragement from our family and friends as we embark on this journey. If you are interested in supporting us through this, we have a couple needs at this time:

The first is prayer. We would ask for prayers for patience, and for God to prepare our hearts and our home for our future child. We would also ask you to pray for our child. The age range we have selected is 0-4 years old, which means our child may already be alive and waiting for us. Pray that they are shielded from the harsh reality of life in an orphanage and that their caretakers are loving them well in our absence.

The second is financially. Adoption is expensive. International adoption varies, but tends to cost around $35,000. We are asking for your help to raise $28,000 of that goal which will go toward home-study fees, our Social Worker’s time and expertise, orphan care in Colombia, legal fees, and a whole host of other items that go into matching our child with our family and bringing them home. We would love for you to partner with us in this way, but please do not feel obligated. We know you love us .. you wouldn’t have read this far down our page if you didn’t :)

Thank you for sharing in our story! We cannot wait to meet the child God has already selected for our family.

Love,

Chaz & Megan
