Our boys want a sister!
Adoption has been a discussion point for our family since we got married almost 16 years ago, but it never seemed to be the right time. This past summer while I (Lori Jo) was on a trip to volunteer at a foster home in China, God laid the desire to adopt on my heart. Knowing that this could have just been an emotional reaction, I asked David to pray about the idea and we could talk about it later. After I was back home, we began discussing adoption and if it was the right time. We talked about the idea with our older boys and our family, everyone was on board. God made it abundantly clear to us that NOW was the time for us to follow this path. It is our plan to adopt a little girl from China, most likely with a special need of some nature. All the boys are very excited to have a sister. Little Gideon asks us daily, "When my sister come?" We are taking giant leaps of faith, but know that what God has called us to to he will also provide for in all ways.
As part of our adoption process and walking by faith, we have started this crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. We really desire to take all three boys with us when we travel to China to get our daughter. This is why we have set a goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive families.
We hope that by inviting you to join us in our story, you will see yourself as part of the community we want to build around our daughter as she grows up.
