We started the formal adoption process in Feb. 2013, but in reality, the Lord sowed the seed of adoption in our hearts years earlier. Over this time, the Lord has watered that seed by allowing us to witness the miracle of adoption in many of our friends&' lives. It has really opened our eyes to the overwhelming need of orphans in Ethiopia and around the world. Our family has been blessed with two wonderful boys, but we also felt that our family wasn&'t yet complete. Given the traumatic birth experiences we had, we felt that having another biological child was not in the cards for us. So we earnestly began praying about adoption. In the end, we felt a confirmation from God calling us to adopt a daughter from Ethiopia. We were matched with our beautiful daughter in September 2015. She is 4 years old and waiting for us in an orphanage in Ethiopia. We are currently going through the paperwork process of bringing her home. Currently, Ethiopia is a two trip country so we will travel to Ethiopia one time for a court hearing and then again about two months later to bring her home. Due to the length of our process, we have some documents that are expiring and we are having to repay some fees to stay updated. This has caused some unexpected fees, so we are fundraising a bit more that we anticipated.
