We have BIG news!
We are adopting a child!
We always had thought about adoption, but we didn't know when, or even how we could do it. During a small group experience at our church this past fall it was laid pretty clearly on Ally's heart, "you are going to adopt an infant." She felt strongly that we were to provide a life for a baby whose mother chose life for them. We were so excited about the thought of adopting at some point, to welcome a child and love them, teach them the gospel, show them grace and kindness, we just didn't know when that would be.
Most people do not know, but Ally developed pubic symphysis dysfunction in pregnancy with Jackson, which slowly developed into osteitis pubis (inflammation of the hip bones at the joint). This is painful and has required continued physical therapy and steroid injections. We have been advised that Ally's body would not be ready to carry another baby right now. The healing process for this is slow and is taking far longer than we thought it would, but we feel strongly that while Al's body is healing, our hearts are ready to welcome a baby into our home and our family. So that helped answer the question of when to adopt… it's now.
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $25,000 to help ease the financial burden. We know this is a big ask, one that we are nervous about asking. But we are trusting that there is power in community and that God will supernaturally help us provide for this child. To invite others into this mission of helping a birth mother provide a home for a little one, what an incredible gift!! If 250 people donated $100 each, we would be at our goal… that makes that big number seem a little less daunting!
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up.
