After years of struggling with infertility and 3 miscarriages, we decided our hearts could no longer pursue growing our family the traditional way. It was the most heartbreaking journey to go through, but reaching the conclusion that we were going to stop trying was just as devastating. While at times painful to think about, God has brought us both unexplainable peace. Through much prayer and providential circumstances, we felt an overwhelming confirmation that adoption was what God was calling our family into.
We were at a lost with how it would all come together or where to even start. Fortunately, we found an adoption consultant company and scheduled a call to go over the process. We were surprised to learn adopting a child can cost upwards of $60,000. We would be lying if we said we weren’t discouraged after we got off the phone call. However, we didn’t want the financial barrier to keep us from bringing home a child we could raise and love alongside our 6-year-old biological daughter, Carli, who wants nothing more than to be a big sister.
When it came time to share with Carli, we weren’t sure how she would respond. We explained what it meant to adopt and she couldn’t contain her excitement. She frequently asks us to tell her more about adoption and we recall a day when she eagerly inquired, “When are we getting our baby?” and we replied, “We’re not sure. It may take a while. We still need to work on our story.” She said, “What story? Like tell people why we want to adopt? Well, my story is I want someone to play with and take care of.” Seeing how ready she is to welcome another child into our family, confirms in our heart we are heading in the right direction.
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. We have set a goal of $50,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. Even if you are unable to give at this time, we would greatly appreciate your prayers. We are so grateful to have a strong support system and have been overwhelmed by the love we have received thus far. As we move forward in this new chapter, we have hope again that we will soon have another little one to love on.
