A year and a half ago, as another New Year rang in with cheering and fireworks, Mesina and I sat discussing the events of the past year. As we reflected, we soon realized there wasn't much that made it too different from the prior year, or the year before that or before that. As the discussion turned to reflecting on what really matters in life, our purpose for being here and what our legacy might be when we are gone, a quote I had just come across (credited to Robin Sharma) came to mind. "Don't just live the same year over and over 75 times and call it a life!"
At that point we decided that whatever we did in the year to come, we did not want to look back during the next New Year's celebration and regret another of the same year lived over again. It was also just shortly before that God had placed on our hearts the idea of adoption. He began to plant this seed through several family mission trips to Eastern India. The more He nudged, the more we prayed, to which He would nudge some more… and we would pray some more. So, nine months later after much nudging and much praying and consideration, we decided to follow that call, and we jumped in!
Now we are excited to announce that being about halfway through the process, we have been matched with a 10 year old girl from India, our daughter! Legally, we are not able to share any more details at this time, but as we are able to we can't wait to share.
What we can share is that we could not be more confirmed in our decision to be obedient! God has moved mountains in this story and we are grateful and amazed. We are beyond excited and anxious to bring our daughter home, which we are praying can still be by the end of this year. (Although that would be a fairly quick completion to the process from where we are at). If we are honest, each step still continues to be a giant step of faith, with a roller coaster of emotions, but we know this is right and good.
A few of you have been on this journey since the beginning stages, and we appreciate the support through prayers and discussions we've had over the last year. Each one of you reading this, in some way or another is part of our community, and we are so grateful. We especially appreciate your continued prayers for us in and beyond this process. We value the conversations and encouragement we've gained from so many of you. As we are able, we would love to continue those conversations, and for those of you who haven't heard the details of our story, to share how God has been at work!
I'm sure many of you have heard the adoption process is complicated with countless documents and legal hoops to jump through, Mesina has all kinds of stories she can share. As you can imagine this being the not-so-streamlined process that it is, is also fairly expensive. God has blessed us already beyond measure, and we trust without a doubt that He will provide for all our needs during and beyond this process. But one thing we've also come to learn through past mission trips, is that there are many people in our community who would like to partner with us in this right and good work. Financially, is one way to do that. If you happened to be so inclined, we would be honored, and honestly humbled to have your support. You can join in that way by using the giving button above.
If you're reading this, you've already been a part of our story and from small to large, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This is a journey that we couldn't have written ourselves! But what we know is that our lives, let alone just this next year will never be the same…
Stay tuned,
The Lunz Family
