Matthew Martin

is adopting a child from United States of America

Greetings! We're the Martin family, and we live in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently a family of four and are hoping to grow to a family of five or six. Matt is a senior researcher at The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at The Ohio State University and Ashley is an ER nurse. After having two children biologically (Jude, 4, and Ezra, 2), we've decided to pursue a domestic transracial adoption through Choice Network of Ohio. Choice partners with abortion clinics across the country to love and counsel women in crisis pregnancies, showing them that adoption is truly an option for them. There are many reasons we decided to adopt. We knew our family wasn't done growing yet and felt like we had the capacity to love more children. We see adoption as a beautiful way to provide a big life full of opportunity for a child, to love a birthmom by providing a loving home and family for her child if she cannot, and to reflect our spiritual reality–that we have been adopted into God's family through Jesus. Racial reconciliation is a very important value for our family, and we view our transracial adoption as a way to show the beauty of diversity in the kingdom of God. Adoption is more than a political statement or a sociological experiment for us; it is rooted in a theological conviction that the family of God contains people that do not all look the same, and we want to mirror that. We deeply appreciate your support for our family as we are on this journey. Learn more about us and follow our adoption at mattandashleymartin.wordpress.com.
