Danes wants to be (will be) a big brother!!
As I was going through the process to adopt Danes, I never thought I would pursue a second adoption, but here I am! I have loved the journey of motherhood through adoption, and I want to take that journey one more time in life. Motherhood has changed my life and my outlook on life, which has led me to where I am today with pursuing motherhood again through adoption. There are so many children around the world in need of forever families. If I can provide that for two children in my lifetime, what an honor that would be!!
I have chosen adoption from Haiti again as I have truly fallen in love with that country and the people of that country. Unfortunately, nearly 1 million of the 10 million Haitians are orphans. That has always been a staggering statistic for my head to get wrapped around. The need is great in Haiti, and often times parents relinquish their rights to their children merely because they can not afford to feed them and provide them a decent life. That was such the case with Danes and countless other orphans in Haiti. A quote I read years ago and that I think of often today is, "A child born to another woman calls me mommy. The magnitude of that tragedy and the depth of that privilege are not lost on me." What a powerful statement!! I have loved being a mother more than I ever imagined, and the love I have for my future son and Danes' future brother is already immense!!
The cost of adoption, whether domestic or international, is exorbitantly expensive. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $30,000 or more. This time I am humbly asking for monetary and prayerful support to help defray the out of pocket cost for the adoption in lieu of gifts upon our homecoming. Instead of gifts, we have puzzle pieces "for sale". :) The goal of this is to sell each piece of the puzzle for $20; the name of each supporter will be put on the back of the puzzle pieces purchased. At the end, and hopefully with all pieces sold, the puzzle will be glued and placed in a floating frame so we can look back on all the supporters that helped the McClain family grow through adoption.
I am so very appreciative of all the support from family and friends and can't wait to share this second journey with all of you! Love to you all from the McClain family!
