is adopting a child from China

This past summer we said yes to hosting a little boy from China. Matt and I have had adoption on our heart for a few years now and either circumstances or unsettling thoughts had held us back from moving forward with our "plan" of adopting a 2-3 year old little girl from Haiti. When we said yes to hosting, God had already began preparing our hearts to the idea of adopting a child with special needs. We spent 4 weeks this summer with this amazing little boy. He has an amazing laugh, is very ticklish, and is incredibly brave. We had some tough times too - he has a tough time with physical affection, has trouble expressing his frustration, and has some very serious health needs. One thing we knew… he cannot remain at this orphanage - he needs a family! After praying and talking this over we knew that we are his family. We are so excited to pursue our adoption of Wei Wei. If you had told us last year that we would be adopting an 8 year old boy from China who potentially has a severe blood disorder and needs a big surgery we would have been in shock. But, that's the amazing part of this - God has changed our hearts and we know he will continue to change us through this whole process. Due to Wei Wei's medical issues while in the US we have incurred some medical costs that are not covered by insurance. We appreciate all friends and family who are helping us bring Wei Wei home.
