After years of infertility and multiple failed attempts to conceive, Defonza and Karena were blessed beyond belief by their adoption of Mateo. Mateo means "gift from God", and they believe James 1:17: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. They have seen the blessing of this amazing gift in their lives, and the lives of their entire family. They long to share their home with another child, and for Mateo to grow up with a sibling.
In a way that only He could, God has opened doors with their adoption agency (and in their hearts) to start the adoption process again. They have carefully deliberated and prayed for a long time, and they truly feel God is calling them to adopt again. The only hindrance is the financial aspect. Throughout their journey, they have diligently budgeted and saved to pay for all of their medical procedures, treatments and consults related to their struggle with infertility, and then for all of the birth and adoption expenses.
We would love for you to come alongside the McIlwains, and partner with them in this second effort for a child. They have saved and are willingmake sacrifices to make this happen on their own, but it would be such a gift to have their friends and family to help them make this dream a reality sooner rather than later.
