It is with great delight that we announce that our family is growing again– this time through adoption!
Before we were married, Colby and I both discussed our shared desire to grow our family though adoption. Colby had travelled to Romania twice in high school and twice more while in college. During these mission trips, he helped run summer camps for Livada Orphan Care. In 2010, I went on a mission trip to India and the UAE. My group's main task in traveling was to encourage local churches, but we also had the opportunity to visit a couple orphanages and meet the children and their caretakers. These trips really impacted our hearts and opened them up to the idea of adopting "one day."
During our marriage, we have periodically revisited the subject of adoption, but God has always seemed to say, "Wait" or "Not yet." In his providence, God has recently led us to pursue an international adoption through Trinidad– where my mom is from.
By his grace, God has been teaching us more about our own adoption through Jesus' work on the cross– how we, through no righteousness of our own, have been brought into His family and been made co-heirs with Christ. We see the adoption of a child as a faint reflection of the love He showed us in our own redemption and adoption.
As we embark on this new adventure, we ask that you would pray for us, specifically for: (1) our hearts as we ready ourselves to welcome the newest member of our family– that we would be equipped to address their specific needs (2) provision and safety for our child in his or her current situation (3) successful fundraising efforts (4) a smooth process with the US and TT government.
We are filled with hope for this adventure and for our new child, and we cannot wait for them to have the opportunity to meet and grow to love each one of you as much as we already do!
