Andrew McNamara

is adopting a child

It’s official–we’re adopting!

We’ve prayed over this decision for so long, and God has finally told us that there’s no time like the present.

Early in our marriage, God revealed to us what a beautiful picture of the gospel that adoption is, and we knew we were meant to grow our family through adoption.

Our journey has been filled with ups and downs. In our first year of marriage, we were faced with some scary health concerns when Andrew was diagnosed with colon cancer.

In the midst of surgery and chemotherapy, we found out Lucy was pregnant with our twin daughters. We were overjoyed and terrified and all of the feelings that this news brings to any parents. Unfortunately, we lost our precious girls at 17 weeks. As devastating as the loss was, we knew that God was with us during each step of our grief and that He’d continue to be.

After facing infertility struggles, we knew that the Lord was leading us to step into adoption. Of course, once we began the adoption process, we found out we were expecting another baby on March 20, 2020!

As our friends and family have joined us on this adventure, everyone’s questions has been the same: “Do you still want to adopt?” Our answer is an emphatic “YES!” God has called us to open our hearts and our home to a sweet child in need, and circumstances won’t change what He’s spoken to us.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome two beautiful new lives into our home.

WHAT KIND OF ADOPTION ARE YOU PURSUING?

We are pursuing a domestic adoption through Faithful Adoption Consultants, based out of Atlanta, Georgia. FAC has relationships with adoption agencies in 48 states, and they act as our advocate during the adoption process. Almost all adoptions through FAC are domestic newborns and infants, so we can’t wait to bring home our precious newborn!

WHAT STAGE OF THE PROCESS ARE YOU IN?

We are currently in our active phase with FAC, which means we are actively receiving cases, reviewing them, and providing our “YES” to birth mommas and babies. On average, it takes about 60 “YES” responses from adoptive parents before being matched, so we are leaning into God’s provision during this season and trusting He will match our “YES” with the precious baby He has for us!

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOUR JOURNEY?

Prayer

It’s a difficult decision to place a child up for adoption, and we see so many cases from so many mommas. We’d love for you to stand in agreement with us that God would do a mighty work in the lives of these women, and that He’d give them a supernatural wisdom and peace to make the right decision for their babies.

The adoption journey isn’t easy. There’s a lot of hurrying up, a lot of waiting, and tons of opportunities for second guessing. We are leaning into God’s provision during this season of uncertainty, trusting that His plan and His timing are perfect–we would love for you to agree with us in prayer!

Giving

We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from so many friends and family!

Our adoption will cost about $50,000. Through God's generosity, we are currently able to pay about $30,000 of this cost, which brings our fundraising goal to $20,000.

Tax-deductible donations can be made here through our Adopt Together giving site–if you are willing and able to support our adoption financially, we would be honored!

SUPPORT CARDS

As a special thank you, donations of $25 will receive a limited edition support card with one of three verses that God has laid on our heart during this journey. (1 Samuel 1:27, Hebrews 10:23, and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Donations of $75+ will receive all three support cards.
