Dear Family and Friends,
We have great news! We are in the process of adopting a baby! This is something that’s been on our hearts since we first met six years ago. We feel called to add to our family through adoption, just as God, through Christ, showed His infinite love and mercy by adopting us into His family!
After two very, very hard pregnancies, we have decided to move our timetable from “someday when our kids are older” to now! We want to add to our family and we feel there is no better way than by opening our home to a family in need.
We are working with an agency called Adoption Advocates, who works to unite birth mothers and adoptive families together for the benefit of all. We will be adopting an infant, but as of yet we don’t know any further details, except that he or she needs a loving, forever family. The reason we chose Adoption Advocates is that they work with the birth mother before birth, but also continue to maintain a relationship with the birth mother well after the adoption is finalized. It is an ongoing ministry to love the least of these, which is our heart as well.
We have been praying over this process, and we ask that you pray with us. The adoption will be open, and it is our desire to show Jesus to the birth parents. Please pray with us as we pray for our future birth parents in a desire to welcome them in as a part of our family. Our greatest hope is that they become part of our family in Christ!
Lucy is so excited to be a big sister again, and has already picked out several names, including Santa or French Shirt McPhee for a girl, or her current favorite: Mary. She quite insists it will be a girl, though she’s told us she’d love to have “Another Malcolm”. The beauty of adoption is that she (or he) will be “another Malcolm” in a way: another sibling, born not of our blood, but through our hearts, to be a part of our family forever!
We are pursuing adoption grants, saving our nickels and dimes so to speak, taking advantage of the Adoption Tax Credit, and Katie is sewing baby items to sell to raise funds. Through all of this, we hope to raise $10,000 to cover the agency cost and attorney’s fees.
Would you consider supporting us in prayer and/or financially as you are able? No gift is too small! Contributions are tax-deductible and will go directly to Adoption Advocates and/or the attorney. If we happen to receive funds that exceed our adoption costs, we will donating that money toward adoption-related programs, such as Adoption Advocates.
We know that this is what God has called us to, and we know that He will provide perfectly. We are excited to be on this journey with you, and look forward to sharing our greatest joys with you!
