Hello! We are Bret and Theryne Medlin. Our home is nestled in the Medlin family fields of Union County, NC. Together, we have one darling daughter, a snuggly cairn terrier, several beehives, and ten chickens. We love Jesus, traveling, camping, planting seeds, and quiet evenings by the firepit. We live a simple and extraordinary life in Christ.
And we are adopting from India! Over the years, God has been moving in our family in the most amazing, and to be honest, sometimes difficult, ways. Through all of these seasons, He has been preparing us for this moment. For right now. He's been readying us to bring home our second child from India (the most orphaned country in the world). God placed upon our hearts the plight of the orphan and called us to act. We cannot wait to bring our son home!
Over the past three years, the Lord has been faithful to supply all our financial needs and many of you were instrumental in helping us. We thank you for that! Because of you, and the blessing of adoption grants, our adoption has been fully funded, except for travel expenses. In Philippians 4:17, Paul assures his financial supporters that he does not seek the gift itself, but “the profit which increases to YOUR account” (emphasis added). In other words, God was supplying all of Paul’s needs, but Paul wanted fellow believers to share in the blessing. We are in awe of the way the Lord has used family and friends and even strangers to do just that. Maybe you aren't called to adopt, but by giving you have shared in the care of orphans. Your donations have helped a little boy find us, his forever family. And that's the most beautiful gift anyone could give.
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $5,000 to help ease the financial burden of travel that often overwhelms adoptive parents. Travel costs, alone, are estimated at $11,200.
