Hi friends! As some of you might know, my LOVE of adoption began in 2008 while volunteering in a small rural orphanage in Nigeria, Africa. I felt called to create a safe home for a child like those I&'d met in Nigeria, whose start in this world had been so full of loss and pain. I returned from that mission trip and immediately began researching international adoption options for single women. I knew in my heart that I was ready to be a mother and create a family by way of adoption. I couldn&'t wait to get started. Twenty-four months later, I was standing in Ethiopia with my sisters by my side holding my beautiful baby girl in my arms. I am blessed each and every day I am able to be Mebrate&'s Mama– I am the lucky one! It was THE single best decision I have made in my life. Today, my heart is once again leading me to adopt this time through a domestic process. While I know there will be twists and turns as all adoption processes include very unpredictable timelines and significant costs, I know Mebrate and I are ready to welcome another child into our hearts and home. I have never been one who asks for help easily. After all, isn&'t adoption MY journey? However, being an adoptive mother has taught me that it really does take a village to give a child a forever family. So I am humbly asking for your help now.
