We have some BIG news!
We are in the process of trying to adopt again! We have always hoped one day to add another child to our family and now that Harrison is older (and very much ready for a sibling, he asks us about it frequently!) we are preparing to embark on this journey once again.
We are approaching the process a little differently this time around with the hopes of adopting from the foster care system. While we would be open to a newborn, we're looking for an older child that is waiting for a forever family. Our goal is to be matched with a child closer to Harrison's age so that they can grow up together and be there for one another. We had previously gone through the STARS foster care training with 2 classes left to complete, but learned we would have to start the entire process over in order to be approved. Instead we're using the same social worker that we used previously to do our home study. We understand firsthand the importance and bonds developed between siblings and it is something we want to give Harrison. This is ultimately what has led us to wanting to adopt again.
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome another child into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign.We have set a goal of $5,000 to help ease some of the financial burden that comes with adoption. These funds will be used towards the costs associated with filing the necessary paperwork, updating our home study with our caseworker, and providing our new child everything they will need to get settled into their new home. We know all too well the financial and emotional stress involved with adoption, but we are determined to grow our family regardless of the cost.
