Drew and Tami Namminga

are adopting a child from Hong Kong

A little over 4.5 years ago, we started the process to adopt for a second time with anticipation and expectations that it would work as smoothly and quickly as when we adopted Andi. We were quickly matched with a sweet little girl from China, a few months younger than Andi. We completed our home study and sent our dossier to China; then waited. One year turned to two, then to three, and recently we heard the news that China does not plan to move forward with anymore international adoptions, even those who were matched and waiting. Although heartbreaking for us, we still hope. There is a group working with China advocating for the completion of the in-process adoptions.

Although we have not given up hope for our little girl in China, while waiting we were introduced to the idea of adopting from Hong Kong. In August we were matched with an 8 year old girl. Our home study is complete and we are waiting on USCIS to finish reviewing our home-study and then we can send our dossier to Hong Kong. We recently learned of a family that was able to travel to Hong Kong within a year of starting the process. Our prayer is travel to Hong Kong some time in 2025!

As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign, because, as it may surprise you to hear, adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. We would love for you to join us in this process and beyond, as our family grows.
