We are adopting . . . again!
We are beyond excited and so thankful to be home with our new little baby Scarlet MAe Hope. As many of you know, we traveled recently before we were fully funded due to Scarlet Mae Hope's medical needs and not wanting her to wait any longer to get the care she desperately needs. If you have been following our story, you know that two days before she was placed with us, we were told she broke her arm. A few days later, we also found a break in her leg, which made us even more anxious to get her back to the US. On the 17th of May, we flew into Seattle with her and directly took her to the ER at Seattle Children's Hospital. They ran a lot of tests and did several x-rays to confirm her breaks. We learned both her arm and leg were indeed broken, but mending and she was stable enough to take home until we could get in with the pediatric orthopedic among many other specialists. Scarlet Mae Hope has a lot of medical needs and will need to be seen by several specialists in Seattle right away.
She is a tiny little thing (about the size of a small three year old at almost six), not much bigger than our little Neva Marie, but she is a fighter and is very sweet and mellow. She tries to get around, but cannot walk well and falls often. She is starting to learn a few English words already and seems happy to have lots of sisters and a dog and cat. :)
Now that we are home, we will need to continue to fundraise the final expenses for her adoption that we incurred in country. This totals about $15,000, however, we have been graciously given several grants in the last few days, so our total is now about $8,000.
