are adopting a child from Colombia

We have BIG news!

Many of you followed our story of hosting this summer and from that amazing experience, we have decided to pursue the adoption of a teenager from Colombia. We are not allowed to go into further detail other than using this space to let our friends and family know about the process.

The adoption process can be quite costly but we are confident God will provide. We are going to use this website to keep everyone updated and let you know about the FUNdraising opportunities we are working with.

We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our new family member. We are hoping to travel this summer so we have time before school starts to get acclimated as a family of four.

Thank you for being part of our journey and be sure to follow our adventure.

Please continue to pray for this as there are a lot of moving factors with the state of the world.

God Bless!

    Fundraising - the hard part

    April 23, 2023

We have come to the part that is most humbling. The cost of adoption is astronomical, but we would do anything to help bring our new family member home. We are turning to our friends and family to help us make this child's dream come true.

If you are able to donate, we would be honored for you to be part of our story. You can donate through this website and it is tax deductible.

We are starting a fundraiser with this amazing logo that we designed together that is based on a drawing from one of the kids that were here last summer.

If you donate $75, you will receive a custom hat or t-shirt! Just email or text Jenn or Brandon your size

All donations will receive a sticker and a button with our family logo.

Our family verse is Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

We are thankful for all that God has done for our family and want to honor Him through this building of our family.

All the paperwork and all the waiting

    April 23, 2023

We are still in the midst of paperwork. Our next big step is for our documents to be translated and compiled and then sent to Colombia.

There is one crucial piece that we are waiting for before the translations begin but we are at the mercy of the government to process that payment.

On another amazing note, we were awarded a grant to help cover some of our costs! This is a huge blessing as we have many fees that are due. Thank you Kidsave!!!

If you haven't seen their program, take a look here www.kidsave.org
Grateful that we were introduced to this amazing organization.

    Home Study has been completed

    February 5, 2023

We have reached a good milestone in the process. Our Home Study has been completed and we can begin the next step. On Monday, we will be filing out i800a which is getting approval from the government for us to adopt out of the country. We are praying that it gets approved quickly but could take up to 8 weeks.

Prayer request: For the approval to come in without requests for revisions and that we can start the dossier process quickly.

    Paperwork has begun!

    October 24, 2022

We have started ALL the paperwork. There are so many steps in this process so we are taking it bit by bit.
We submitted a Letter of Intent, advising Colombia that we are wanting to pursue adoption in their country. This was approved but that means we are accepted to move forward in the process. It is a small formality but all part of the process.
We are working on our Home Study which will allow us to start the adoption process.
Next, we have to work on our paperwork to advise the US that we are planning to adopt out of the country.
After this, we need to submit our paperwork to Colombia that we are planning to adopt from their country.
Once approved, they give us the referral to adopt our child, and once we approve that, Colombia will advise the child of their pending adoption. The child won't know until around March or so. Once all this happens, we can finally speak to our child over Zoom until we are set to travel.
We are hoping to travel in the early summer of 2023.
