Destiny Lamb

is adopting a child from United States of America

We are William and Destiny from Virginia. We like to think of ourselves as loving, intelligent, responsible and funny people and, unless our friends and family have been lying to us, we are not far off the mark!

For two people who generally would rather talk about anything other than themselves, pouring our collective life and heart on these pages is not a simple task. But the motivation is powerful and the sentiment genuine. We are fortunate- we both come from stable and loving families who have supported us throughout our lives and now throughout what seems to be the biggest endeavor yet - ADOPTION!

We believe everything happens for a reason. After going through the motions and becoming approved by the state of Virginia to become foster parents- we were over the moon to accept our first placement. She was a timid 3 year old with brown hair that fell just above her eyes. We had no idea where she had come from or what she had been exposed to in her life before foster care. It took about 3 weeks for us to fall deeply, completely, head over heels in love with this child. The bond she shared with our family was like nothing we had ever imagined. The way she was comforted instantly when William walked into the room or how she always wanted "Des-knee' to read her a book so she could fall asleep was truly special.

Just when we started to toss the word "forever" around, we got the call. It was a call that we knew would happen, although we still dreaded it. Our girl was going home. There is no easy way to lose a child. And as foster parents, we did not even get to acknowledge our loss. We were forced to put on a brave face and remind ourselves that reunification is always the goal of foster care. This changed us.

Adoption had always been something we have talked about and been excited for. After almost 2 years of trying unsuccessfully to conceive naturally, we have decided to stop letting fear keep us from adoption. We have never been more sure about anything that this is how we are meant to build our family.

We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $50,000 or more in some cases. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the VILLAGE we hope to build around our "little lamb" as he/she grows up.

We're so grateful for everyone's help. We need it. We appreciate it. We love you for it. When you believe in us and our adoption journey, you are believing in our family- and that means EVERYTHING!
