"Why don&'t they come to Maine and get parents?" The phrase out of my daughter&'s mouth opened a dormant discussion that my wife and I had been having for years. Because of unsettling complications with both pregnancies, we had made the hard decision to not have any more biological children, however, we both felt open to the idea of adoption if we felt that we had the capacity to love another child well. After talking with both kids, it was clear that they were on board with having a little sister. Once we knew that our children were ready to make space for another child, the adoption discussion was brought back to life. Both of our children were in a good place. Financially we were doing well. Was there really going to be a better time? The more we talked, the more confident we both were that this was the time to open our home to love a little one who had no family to call their own. Though the paperwork and adoption process are daunting, the only true barrier to our cause at this point is finances. The costs of adoption certainly surprised us, and we will need as much help as we can to make this dream a reality. The $35,000 we need to raise is certainly a big number, we know we can reach that goal with your help. Please consider giving what you are able to help us give a child a family.
