Matt and I have been married for nearly eleven years, and have spent most of those years dreaming of becoming parents. We underwent infertility treatments, investigated foster care, international and domestic adoptions, but nothing seemed to be a good fit. We had resolved ourselves that we were likely to remain childless.
We were shocked to get the call from a dear friend that a family member of hers was pregnant and interested in placing her baby for adoption- with us! She and the baby's father are resolute in their decision. They are good people in a difficult situation. Our greatest joy is going to result from their tremendous loss, and we are honored that they have chosen us to raise their baby girl.
This little one will be coming home to an extended family who have awaited her arrival for a long time.
Unfortunately, even a private, independent adoption such as ours is expensive. Our home study, with the required background checks, medical clearances, etc is about $1,500. The attorney fees for Matt and I, and for the expectant parents, will cost an estimated $6,000-$10,000. We will also have to stay in TX for 7-10 days before we can come home, awaiting clearances from NC and TX to bring our baby home, a trip that will take us 2 days by car, as she will be too fragile and new to fly. The total costs could easily exceed $15,000!
We appreciate ANYTHING you can donate to help us bring our baby home. We are blessed to have such supportive and loving family and friends on this journey with us!
