As many of you already know, we are adopting a child, due the first week of June!
We are extremely excited to be starting a family through adoption, and we are grateful for all of the support we have been given by friends and family through this long and sometimes difficult process. We know that many of you are just as thrilled as we are that we are finally matched and on the way to meeting our child!
What perhaps many of you don't know is the high cost of adoption, especially private, domestic infant adoption. Between agency fees, support for the birth mother, legal fees, travel costs, etc., it will cost us around $50,000 to adopt our child! Yikes.
We know that many of you want to be a part of this wonderful event - we've had four people offer to throw us a baby shower already!- and we are so grateful and honored. However, more than cute baby clothes and all the fun stuff like that, we could use help funding this adoption. We have decided to start a crowdfunding campaign to help offset some of the costs we will incur. All of the money raised through this website will be granted to us and go directly to our adoption agency to be used towards our adoption expenses.
So we would ask you, instead of buying a cute stuffed animal or adorable baby outfit, please consider donating the amount you might spend on that fabulous gift to our fundraiser. Any little bit would help us immensely!
It truly does take a village to raise a child, and we are so lucky to have such a strong network of friends and family! We are hoping that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as they grow, and know that you are a very real reason why our child was able to come to us.
