We have BIG news! We are adopting a child!
We are sure that many of you have questions and we hope to answer most of them here…
What type of adoption are we pursuing? We are so incredibly excited to say that we are hoping to adopt a new baby through Domestic Infant Adoption.
How long will it take? Such a tough question… this process averages 12-18 months for most families from beginning to end. We got started in November and have chosen to work with an incredible consultant, so fingers crossed that we will be proud parents in 2020!
We are beyond excited and are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of our adoption process and upon numerous suggestions from families who have gone through it, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $40,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of $20,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. Some of you may have questions about these expenses and we believe that in asking for your help, you are entitled to some specific information about these costs.
Here is a list of future expenses (including some national averages) associated with Domestic Infant Adoption:
Agency placement fees: Average of $18-25,000
Expectant mother/family support: Average of $8-12,000
Legal fees: Average of $7-12,000
Travel including airfare for two and 14 days of room and board to accommodate ICPC regulations: $3-4,000
We are more than prepared to love and support a sweet new baby boy or girl upon placement, but we welcome your help in tackling these upfront costs to find our child. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our sweet baby as he or she grows up. We would not be able to do this without your love and support. Your prayers and gifts mean the world to our growing family. We LOVE and APPRECIATE each of you!
