Travis Patrick

is adopting a child from Taiwan, Province of China

He calls us Mommy and Daddy now. He asks for us and knows who we are. The judge has issued the civil ruling that we can adopt Reade, and Taiwan has provided us the dates that we can travel to bring him home. It's been over a year since we first saw his face. He was so much smaller then.

We are tired and so, so ready to bring our son, Reade, home. We know that is when the hard part actually starts. We are ready to be his family in action, not just on paper. We are ready to help him learn that his need for attention, love, and nurturing will be met. We are ready to know what the weight of him feels like in our laps, what his laugh sounds like, and . . . what his tantrums are like (oh, there will be tantrums). We are ready.

We ask you to help us become ready financially. This is a complicated and expensive process. We are prepared to do it alone but would appreciate financial support as Reade will also need physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy when he gets home. Some don't believe adoptive families should ask for financial support. "If you can't afford it, don't do it," they say. Well, that's just dumb. We all have different giftings. Some of us have been gifted with the desire to adopt others the desire to support those who adopt.

We pray you are either one of those 2 options. If you are not in the place to adopt (right now!), would you provide funds for our adoption? This will not only bring Reade home but will help him be successful once here. We'd much rather pay on his college loan than on an adoption loan!
