We have BIG news!
We are in the process of hopefully being able to adopt Jayce!
The past few months, we have been in contact with a lawyer regarding how the adoption process for Jayce would work. For those of you who don't know, Jayce came into our home when he was 1.5 years old through a foster care placement. When Jayce was 3, we obtained guardianship of him and became his legal guardians. We have not yet been able to legally adopt Jayce due to the politics of the process in the state of North Carolina.
The adoption process can be super costly, and we are hoping to be able to keep the overall costs low here. However, there can be some extra hoops we have to jump through which will cause the adoption costs to skyrocket.
As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. We are trying to raise $5,000 to help offset the attorney fees. If you have been blessed enough to meet Jayce, you know how special he is to us and to our family. Most families, when expecting children, are showered with love at baby showers and sprinkles. We have been blessed to have an amazing support system, but now we need help offsetting this cost in whatever way possible.
We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he grows up. If you want to help us financially to pursue this adoption of Jayce, and would like to see the fees and statements, I have no problem sharing that with you. We appreciate any and all support, and are so thankful for our circle who wants to help us make this happen.
Hi all,
We wanted to give you a bit of an update, as it has been a while.
We are still knee-deep into this process. We are hoping that with the next steps, we will be able to finally legally adopt Jayce. It has not been an easy journey and certainly has not been an affordable one. We are thankful and appreciative of any and all help we may be able to get during this.
I'm hoping by spring we will have answers, if not at least more of an answer than we have now.
Hi all,
We’ve been in this mess for a few months with no real progress in sight. Andrew and I have drained all the funds that we have, we the small piece of hope that adoption may be possible. Right now, we just ask for prayers over all of us, and that we can get some answers soon. Thanks for all of your support!
