Jacob Phillips

is adopting a child from United States of America

“Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” Jeremiah 32:17

The Lord has graciously blessed us with 4 children, 2 through our own pregnancies, and 2 through adoption. After our 2nd adoption we gave little thought to adopting again. We did always want to remain open to any situation the Lord brought directly to us. Last year, when our youngest was nearing his 2nd birthday, we received a most surprising phone call: we were specifically asked if we would adopt a baby that would be born about 6 months later. We said YES immediately. There was great excitement and anticipation about adding another son or daughter in the summer of 2017. Sadly, only one month later the plan had fallen through and we learned how heartbreaking it can be to pick up the pieces after what is termed a “Failed Match.”

A few months later, we felt led to get home study-ready, in the event another adoption situation should come directly our way. Before the end of 2017 we were home study approved. The small, local Christian agency that completed that for us gave us the option of putting together a family profile album that they could present to expectant moms. We did create an album, knowing that they had not had an adoption placement since 2016, so we figured it unlikely anything would ever come of it.

After 9 months of quietly waiting, we had to determine whether or not we’d start taking the necessary steps to update our home study or to let it expire. Feeling somewhat discouraged about it all, we were both at a point of just letting it expire and closing the adoption chapter of our lives.

BUT GOD was working in our waiting. Right about this time, the agency was contacted by a young expectant mom and after viewing family profiles, she said she wanted to meet us. Two days later we met, and the following day we learned she had chosen us! Her baby is due THIS MONTH and we are very quickly trying to pull everything together for this new arrival! We’re trusting in the Lord and His perfect plans. We appreciate your prayers for everyone involved. We would be most thankful if you’d consider a (tax deductible) financial contribution to help us in covering agency fees, attorney fees, grief counseling for the birth mom, and additional costs to keep our home study current for an adoption finalization later this year.

With gratitude,

Jake and Jessica
