Hello from Greenville, SC! My name is Leslie and my husband is Daniel and we have been married 14 years. We have two biological children, a boy and a girl, ages 13 and 9 years old. We can't forget to mention the furry member of our family…our little dog, Garvin.
So what led us to adopt? It all began back in 2012 when I went on a medical mission trip to Kenya with our church. I saw deep, dark poverty for the first time and it broke me. I came back from that trip a different person with a new desire…to be a voice for the voiceless. To help those who can't help themselves.
Fast forward to 2014, when I was introduced to a company that I now work for, Noonday Collection. Noonday partners with artisans around the world and this partnership helps others rise above poverty. I joined Noonday because I felt it was an opportunity to serve others from where I am and in working with them, my love continued to grow for those in poverty and for the orphan. I have traveled twice to Africa with Noonday and it is true what they say, you can't go to Africa without leaving a piece of your heart behind. As my love for Africa grew, so did our family's love.
In January of 2016 is when I felt the first "tug" that God was calling us to adopt. I have found that when God whispers, that whisper only becomes louder with time. So that following April, I finally sat down with my husband to tell him that I felt God calling us toward adoption. My husband responded with the brightest eyes and biggest smile, "I think that is a great idea!" So here we are almost one year later from the day we said, "Yes!" We look back and see how God began planting the seeds toward adoption with that 2012 mission trip to Kenya.
After much prayer, we felt God calling us to adopt from the land that we have grown to love, South Africa. We have been matched with our 8 year old son and have received official USA approval! Now we are just waiting on our court date and we hope to travel by November 2017…Lord willing! So please pray for us!
We say we are jumping off a cliff right now and trusting God will catch us! We are asking that you prayerfully consider helping us. We knew that the cost to adopt was high, but we decided to step out in faith knowing that God will provide. We want to thank you in advance for helping us bring our son home and becoming a part of our story!
