Ryan Potter

is adopting a child from China

Update - We are nearly half way through our “Be a Piece of Our Adoption Fundraiser.” We’ve purchased two identical puzzles that will be used to decorate our child’s room. For every $25 that you donate we will add your name to one of the pieces on the first puzzle, as well as send you the matching piece from the second puzzle. This will serve as a reminder for both you and our little one that your love helped play a part in bringing them home.

It’s official, the Potters are going to be a family of six!

Three years ago we began a journey into campus ministry because we felt burdened by the call of the gospel on our lives. Remembering everything that Jesus had given us by his grace and that there are tens of thousands of students across the street from us who don’t know him we counted the cost, and declared that it was worth it for the sake of the gospel.

Once again we have been impressed with a great burden, have remememberd all that Jesus has done for us in making us sons and daughters of God, have counted the cost, and are declaring that it is worth it for the sake of the gospel. Only this time we are beginning a journey into adoption and putting the gospel on display for all to see. Not because we get to be like Jesus and be the rescuers of a poor child in need, but because we have been rescued at a great cost and given our lives to whatever our savior would ask us to do.

And we can’t do this alone. Even if we were financially capable, we couldn’t do it alone. We need a team behind us, praying for our family, reminding us of what we’ve been given in Christ, encouraging us through the hard times, celebrating in the good, and yes being generous in their giving. We are reminded of the saying in James 1:27: Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction. Surely, not everyone is called to open up their home to an orphan (though we wish more families would consider this call) but everyone is called to look after orphans where they can. We hope that you will consider how God might be calling you to partner with us as we seek open our family to one of God’s children and give them a forever home.
