Adopting a child has been on our hearts since we were married. We took our first step in adopting in 2015. And, in the process, we became pregnant with our first child, Glory Joy. We’ve enjoyed being her mom and dad so much these last 4 years. Still, God keeps tugging at our hearts to add another child to our family through adoption.
After moving to Pennsylvania earlier this year, we knew it was time to go “all in”. We’re ready to nurture, love, and teach another child. We’re ready to share with another child all that God has done for us. And Glory is ready. She talks about having a brother or sister almost every day (well, Glory would rather have a brother AND a sister). We’re starting to write letters to brother/sister and are collecting them in a box in our home.
Who is the mystery child that we are praying for? He or she (or maybe he and she if God gives us two siblings) is a young child, likely a newborn, whose mother and father are struggling. They are struggling with how they’re going to care for the child that has been conceived. They want the best for the child. They want him/her to have life, but sincerely believe that they’re not in the best place to provide that. And, so sovereignly, in God’s timing, they will find us.
In the meantime, we’re praying and we’re doing all we need here to be ready for that call. We’re working with a local Christian adoption agency: Adoption by Choice. They've completed our home study. And, we've prepared a profile photo book for potential mothers to view. After that, it's a matter of waiting on God to sovereignly orchestrate the adoption. We could get a call anytime in 2022 (or the next 2 years) telling us that a birthmother wants to talk to us about adoption. But, pray with us that it happens sooner than later.
If you have known us for a while, you may ask, “what happened with adopting from China?” Since the covid-19 pandemic adoptions from China have slowed down significantly. This and a number of other things have led us to pursue a domestic adoption first.
To enable us to be ready to receive this little one into our home in the next 3-24 months, would you consider partnering with us in prayer and finances? The total cost of the adoption with Adoption by Choice will be is looking to be $20,000-25,000. This includes a home study fee, placement fees, profile fees, birth mother expenses, travel fees, legal fees, and post-placement visit fees. While we're working hard to find a way to foot as much of that cost ourselves, it would help us tremendously to have financial partners (did we mention, we’re also in the process of planting a church?).
We are grateful for those of you who have been a part of this in the past. Please know that all of those donations are not reflected here (because we used another platform back in 2015-16 when we first started the adoption process). We are blessed to still have $1,000 left to put towards this adoption. We've already paid $2000 for the application fee and home study. We are asking and waiting on the Lord to provide the rest soon.
