Hello Everyone,
We are the Richardsons! Thank you so much for considering helping our family.
The two of us met in college, fell in love and got married after we graduated. Seth is entering his seventh year as an elementary teacher in the School District of Philadelphia where he loves working with children in an underprivileged neighborhood. I (Becky) am currently a stay at home mom, but before the birth of our first child, I served as a counselor and therapist.
It’s hard to pinpoint when we first wanted to adopt, because we actually didn’t arrive at that moment simultaneously. At different instances we had spoken about it, expressing the desire and importance of it, but nothing that was concrete as life moved by rapidly. However, things converged through different conversations and events outside our control. As a result adoption became a greater yearning and passion of ours. In the last four years we have prayed, waited, researched, and even had two children of our own.
Adoption brings up different images for different people: joy, love, wholeness, pain, hope, excitement, confusion, and fear. As the days pass, we learn more about birth moms, social workers, case managers, legalities; the entire process that is so interwoven, so complicated, so beautiful. We find ourselves eager to bring a child into our family by adoption to both be a picture of the adoption we have received into Christ’s family and a pro-life alternative for a mother who feels she has run out of options. If we can have the role of loving, shaping, and nurturing a child who came to us through adoption it would be one of the greatest joys of our lives. We would like to do a domestic infant adoption so we are working with Haven Adoptions Inc. to be matched with our future child.
Our deepest thanks for your support. God bless!
