Knowing what a busy household we already have, some lovingly said we must be crazy when learning we were opening up our hearts and home to another child. We see it as crazy in the best possible way. We truly feel our purpose in life, as long as we have the time, resources and wherewithal, is to welcome children who are without a family into our own.
Greetings and thank you for visiting our profile! We are Matt and Sara Ritzmann and we are the doting parents to four beautiful children. We opened our hearts to adoption 10 years ago after experiencing infertility and have since been blessed with the opportunity to adopt internationally from Russia, Ethiopia and South Korea. Each experience has heightened our awareness of the need that exists throughout the world for loving families for children in need. It is that awareness and our desire to continue to grow our family that led us to where we are today. We are in the process of adopting a child from South Korea with special needs and are seeking the assistance of others to help this child join our family. As we have experienced with each of our first four adoptions, with the excitement and anticipation that comes with becoming parents, also comes stress from the financial commitment required to complete the adoption, which in our case has ranged from $25,000 to $55,000 for each adoption. The total expense for this adoption is approximately $36,700. Asking for help has never been something we have been comfortable with, hence we do not take this ask lightly. Words cannot express our thanks and gratitude to those that have offered to assist us through the process, and we are thrilled to be partnering with AdoptTogether to make it happen.
As parents of children with special needs including fetal alcohol syndrome, reactive attachment disorder, developmental delays and heart and kidney issues, we know first-hand the time, resources and financial commitment necessary to provide for the daily needs of our children and we are excited to be able to provide those things along with our love, nurturing and advocacy to another child.
